Personal care for all animals at The Vet Centre

The Vet Centre Richmond & Motueka are dedicated mixed animal veterinary practice catering for ALL animals including cats and dogs, birds, rats and mice, reptiles, guinea pigs and rabbits, turtles, horses and donkeys, cattle, beef and dairy, sheep, goats, deer, alpacas and llamas.

Our clinic in Richmond, was purpose built in 1993 and is located in an easy to find spot on the corner of King Street and the main road heading south out of Richmond, Gladstone Road.

Our dedicated veterinarians

We are a team of dedicated veterinarians and nurses providing a broad medical and surgical service to all companion animals and production animals. Based in a purpose built facility, equipped with modern equipment to provide a broad range of diagnostic, medical, advisory and surgical services.

In todays advanced veterinary environment, veterinary nurses provide a critical role in the delivery of quality veterinary care. Without their expertise, professionalism and care, veterinary clinics would not be able to provide the medical and surgical care expected by todays public.

“BEST PRACTICE” accredited

New Zealand Veterinary Association (NZVA) “BEST PRACTICE” .. “Assurance of veterinary standard of care & responsibility”

NZVATo qualify for NZVA “Best Practice” is no small task. A practice has to meet very rigorous standards in not only animal care, surgery and medicine, but standards of public health (OSH), building and veterinary equipment maintenance, and the legal requirements of drug prescription (ACVM Act), as examples. As a result The Vet Centre, is the only practice in the Tasman area of Nelson to have achieved these standards.

The Vet Company

The Vet Company is a group of 9 veterinary practices that are located from North Canterbury to Golden Bay, we even have a member in the North Island. Each practice has a director and meetings are held bi-monthly with the aim at increasing the performance of each of the member practices.

Between each of these meetings, special interest groups meet to organise promotions, product use for the coming season and for the sharing of information between the vets that are involved in similar fields of work e.g Dairy vets and Companion Animal Vets.

Wild Life Fund

Frequently we are delivered a variety of wildlife, mainly birds, but often rodents or to the extreme seals! No one actually owns them, but well meaning people bring them to us wanting us to help in their treatment and rehabilitation. Often they are injured, hit by cars on the road, or just sick.

The Vet Centre decided some years ago to accept donations from a simple collection box in the front shop. This was to cover mainly drug costs and occasionally X-Rays and anaesthetics. The vets and nurses would provide their time free.
